Dancing is simply in my soul, and I just love to dance! I’ve
experienced various dance forms including modern, ballet, folk, ethnic
and ballroom dance throughout my life. I discovered Nia in 1989
and at the same time, I also trained in and began to teach Yang Style
Tai Chi Chuan with Dr. Tingsen Xu formerly of Shanghai. I
rediscovered Nia in 1997 when I moved to the Boulder/Longmont area and
later received my White Belt with Carolyne Rideg. I continued my
Nia training with Debbie and Carlos Rosas, founders of the Nia
technique and received my Black Belt in Nia in 2004. I became a
Reiki
Master Teacher in 2004, of the Usui Shiki Ryoho tradition.
Teaching comes
naturally to me, I have been teaching Tai Chi for 20 years and teaching
Nia for 10 years in health clubs, studios, and universities as classes
and workshops.
My Ph.D. in Anatomy/Cell Biology comes with a concentration in
Neuroscience. I really wanted to understand how the body was
constructed and learn how various treatments are designed to heal the
physical body. Health for the physical body
requires the input from the mind and emotions, that I learned from
Nia. My Reiki training taught me how Energy/Chi/Prana can be
directed to provide nourishment and restore health to the entire
system: body, mind, emotions and spirit. Coming full circle, and
bringing this work into the world is supported by my Business degree.
Nia is an essential element of my personal practice, which is
strengthened and enhanced through Reiki and T’ai Chi Ch’uan. It is
through my Nia practice that I found an extraordinary Joy in
Living. Nia has guided me to my hearts path. This is to
dance with joy through life, and assist others to find the Joy of
Living that comes with the integration of body, mind, spirit and
emotions.
